The Konak Green City Design Guide is a comprehensive urban design study developed to transform the streets of Konak into greener, healthier, more accessible public spaces that respond to local climate conditions. The Guide reconsiders sidewalks, roadways, medians, street corners, and underused spaces within the urban fabric not merely as elements of transportation or technical infrastructure, but as high-quality public spaces that support everyday life. The study was developed with careful consideration of Konak’s historic fabric, dense urban structure, Mediterranean climate, and diverse user needs. It explains how different street typologies can be analyzed and offers practical recommendations on key design issues such as pedestrian priority, accessibility, planting, shading, stormwater management, microclimate, street furniture, paving systems, pedestrian crossings, and material selection. It defines a holistic methodology extending from analysis and design development to detailing and on-site implementation. Rather than applying the same solution to every street, the proposals are based on evaluating existing physical conditions, functions, environmental data, and local patterns of use together.
